More than 600 Years of Family History !!!

We just had a big Family Reunion in Stadthagen in September

In 1980 almost 300 members of the Peit(h)man(n) families got together for a family reunion in Stadthagen to look back on 600 years of family history. Many Americans attended that reunion. Following that the Peit(h)mann Family Association was founded in 1981 whose members have met annually since in places where Peit(h)manns had lived. Our genealogist and author Wilhelm Meier-Peithmann made them come alive in his speeches. The history of our family is so rich and so versatile and a good example of the life of a family over the centuries that the managing committee of our family association decided to present all this in a book. It comprises 825 pages with a multitude of photos and documents. It includes 32 tables with the names and data of  1.200 Peit(h)man(n) descendants all over the world since 1394. This outstanding book with its titel “Cultural History of a German Family” was presented at the family reunion in Stadthagen on Sept. 17, 2011. Many officials and the press came to this event as well as 160 relatives from Germany, the USA and Brazil.

The dimensions of the book are 9,25 inches x 6,5 inches, the spine is 1,97 inches thick, and it weighs 2,3 kg.  Unfortunately the text itself is only in German. If you wish to read it please contact us and we will send it to you for 20,00 € plus freight.

 

All in all the reunion lasted from Sept. 16 in the evening until Sept. 18 after lunch. Many speeches were given, relations between close and distant family members were tied and renewed, photos of the different branches of the family were taken, and all the attendants had a good time. We will publish some of the photos here later. The text of most of the speeches will soon be  in the German version of this homepage.
